Frequently Asked Questions
Can you tell me more about the puppies?
The puppies are 8-14 weeks old and are carefully selected and monitored to ensure they're friendly and gentle with participants. They are up-to-date on their vaccinations and have been vet-checked. We expect 6-8 puppies for 14 participants.
How does the yoga session work?
The class will involve having puppies roaming from one mat to the next, leaping on participants, and tussling with other puppies as you try out different yoga poses. Often pups are incorporated into some of the yoga poses or they happily roam free throughout class.
Can I bring my own dog?
Unfortunately, no – for safety and wellbeing reasons, only our event puppies will be allowed on site.
Can we bring our own lunch?
While we provide s’mores and drinks, you are more than welcome to bring any savoury lunch items for you and your family to enjoy. Please do not bring any nuts.
Is wood whittling safe for my child?
This will be a paired / family group activity, working with the themes of reconnection and creativity and creating a keepsake. No experience is needed as you will be guided by a forest school leader with over a decade of experience in working with young people and adults. Adult supervision, proper safety gear and instructions on tool handling will be provided.
Is this event suitable for those with additional needs?
We aim to make our events as inclusive as possible and are generally able to accommodate a variety of additional needs. If in doubt, please email rachel@retreat.me.uk to discuss your specific requirements before booking, and the adjustments we can make to ensure you are able to participate comfortably.
In terms of wood whittling, it is important that we know in advance of any specific needs. Example 1: if there is difficulty in following instructions, these can be broken down and be available in a different format on the day. Example 2: if there are issues with impulsivity and lack of spatial awareness, the guests would use different style of knives to carry out their whittling.
